Savolture / Inverter Compatibility

One 48V LFP Battery. Many Open Inverters.

Compatibility is decided by the inverter ecosystem. Open hybrid inverters close-loop over CAN / RS485; closed platforms lock the battery choice.

Compatibility check

Inverter model×BMS protocol×Firmware profile=Closed-loop match

Confirm CAN / RS485 profile before selecting 200Ah or 314Ah battery size.

The most expensive mistake in a home storage build is not picking the wrong battery. It is pairing a battery with an inverter that will never talk to it. A 48V LFP pack can be perfect on paper and still throw a communication fault because the inverter only closes the loop with batteries on its own approved list.

Quick answer: Open hybrid inverters — Deye, Sol-Ark, Solis, Growatt, and LuxPower — are battery-agnostic over CAN or RS485. Closed platforms — Sungrow and GoodWe — only close-loop with their own or approved batteries. Fronius and Victron vary by model.

Open vs closed decides the project before the battery does.

Make the core distinction visible before the long compatibility matrix.

Every hybrid inverter has to talk to the battery: state of charge, charge and discharge limits, and battery temperature. That conversation is the difference between a system that simply works and one that is rejected on install day.

Open inverters support standard communication over CAN bus or RS485, so a compliant BMS can join the conversation. Closed inverters only run closed-loop with batteries on their own approved list.

If you have not yet chosen your architecture, see the upstream guide to low voltage vs high voltage home batteries.

Installer note: spec an open inverter when battery freedom matters. It keeps the battery choice flexible without forcing the project into a single closed ecosystem.

How closed-loop communication actually works

Keep the technical proof close to the compatibility claim.

Closed-loop data exchange between a 48V battery BMS and a hybrid inverter over CAN and RS485
Closed-loop operation depends on cable, protocol, and profile matching.

Compatible means the battery BMS and inverter exchange live data continuously: state of charge, temperature, voltage, and charge/discharge current limits.

The physical layer, the protocol, and the selected inverter battery profile all need to line up. Miss one of those and the system falls back to voltage control or faults during commissioning.

Open path

Solis / Growatt / LuxPower

Open 48V ecosystems where model and firmware profile still matter.

Common 48V inverter compatibility mistakes

Make risk easy to scan before the FAQ.

Assuming lithium means compatible

Closed-loop depends on BMS protocol, not chemistry alone.

Buying the battery first

The inverter sets the rules. Confirm the pairing first.

Using third-party packs on restricted platforms

Sungrow and GoodWe need careful screening before quoting.

Settling for open-loop

Voltage-only fallback removes smart BMS coordination.

Frequently asked questions

Six schema questions, made easier to scan.

Which inverters are compatible with a 48V LFP battery?

Deye, Sol-Ark, Solis, Growatt, and LuxPower are the primary open paths for compliant 48V LFP packs.

Can I use a third-party battery with Sungrow or GoodWe?

Sungrow is closed. GoodWe depends on an approved list, so exact model confirmation matters.

What does battery-agnostic mean?

The inverter can communicate with compliant batteries through an open protocol rather than a single locked battery family.

What is the difference between open-loop and closed-loop communication?

Closed-loop shares live BMS data. Open-loop guesses from voltage and should be treated as a fallback.

Does Deye or Sol-Ark work with any 48V battery?

They work with compliant BMS profiles, but exact model settings still need confirmation.

How do I confirm my inverter and battery will work together?

Check inverter model, firmware, protocol profile, cable, and pinout before ordering.
